'Animation, gaming to evolve into full-blown career'

Though animation and gaming is still not a mainstream profession, the industry hopes the demand to increase, he said. The Indian animation industry is projected to touch $1 billion by 2012, as compared with $494 million in 2008, while the global animation industry is likely to grow at a CAGR of 10 per cent to $100 billion in 2012 from $68 billion in 2008. Besides, to create a vibrant gaming culture in the country, the industry is developing customised content on all platforms including mobile, online, desktop and consoles.
