Good Knight ad: Dabur challenges HC order

FMCG group Dabur, manufacturer of mosquito repellent Odomos, has challenged a Delhi High Court order dismissing its plea to restrain the advertisement of its rival brand Good Knight. - Harrisons Malayalam set for diversification - Atlas Acquisition to buy Koosharem Corp for $840 mn - Dabur to enter ready-to-cook food business - FMCG firms to be hit if hill state tax benefits withdrawn - Dabur looks at buys in West Asia, Africa - Godrej Sara Lee can advertise product virtues: HC Dabur has challenged before a Division Bench of the court comprising justices M B Lokur and Mukta Gupta the order passed by a single-member Bench. In its petition, the firm has requested the court to set aside the order passed by Justice Rajiv Shakdher that cleared the TV commercial of Good Knight natural mosquito repellent cream. Dabur has alleged that Good Knight, the flagship brand of Godrej Sara Lee, had wrongly compared its product with Odomos and claimed that other mosquito repellent creams in the market are causing rashes and allergy as they are not skin friendly. It further claimed that Good Knight natural mosquito repellent cream was based on natural ingredients, hence it was safe. Opposing the commercial, Dabur submitted that as the commercial was a "malicious falsehood" and it targeted Odomos as it controls 87 per cent in the market dominance. However, it was rejected by Justice Shakdher who said "I am not persuaded to hold that the impugned advertisement is directed against Dabur." The matter would come up for hearing tomorrow.
